There’s nothing more relaxing than catching a few rays on the sandy beaches of Long Island or playing a friendly game of croquet. It may be a cloudy day in the East Hamptons today, but we’re told it’s going to clear up in time for the weekend. Start packing, New Yorkers! Here are a few things to do in the Hamptons this weekend: Southampton: Are you a fan of live music? Head on over to the Lobster Grille Inn tomorrow (Friday, July 10) and enjoy a few drinks! Their “Happy Our” (yes, I did spell that correctly), starts at 4 p.m. and goes until 6 p.m. ...

Weekend Events Update: Fourth of July Edition

Let’s begin with a history lesson, and rewind to July 2, 1776. On this historic day, the Continental Congress voted to declare our independence from Great Britain. Good ole Thomas Jefferson, a delegate from Virginia, wrote the Declaration of Independence which was signed two days later by almost all of the other delegates. This important document in our young nation’s history began the American Revolution. Cue the festive fireworks, parades, and barbecues and let the celebration of America’s independence begin!  Here are a few things to do in New York this weekend: The Macy’s 4th of July fireworks will begin around 9:20 pm on Saturday. Looking for a prime spot? Grab a few friends and find a rooftop bar with a view of the East River down by the Brooklyn Bridge. And d...

NY Restaurant Is Bigger on the Inside

Some of you may remember Christy’s post about the Doctor Who viewing party. Well this is a whole new level of timey wimey goodness. EVERYONE keeps talking about the Doctor Who restaurant that opened in NYC. …I totally would go, IF it was in NYC, which is where everyone keeps saying it is. It’s not. It’s called “Pandorica” and it’s in Beacon, NY. For those of you not familiar it’s about an hour and change from Times Square, in traffic it takes about 3 days to get there. BUT i can tell you that the back of the menu is Melody Pond’s special book cover, and the front is the call box notice sign. The desserts list is called “Sweeties” and it features “Fish” Fingers and Custard. The front door is the tardis and behind ...

Kit Kat’s. They’re big in Japan.

Konnichiwa! Recent news of Nabisco Oreo’s adding a some watermelon to their oreos caused a blip in interest for snackaholics. Milk’s favorite cookie rarely changes, with the exception of double stuffing them and occasional vanilla flavors. So curious to see how the fruit and cookie combo pans out with American audiences. Shifting our snack focus to the East, The Japanese wafer snack Pokey comes to mind whenever I think of Asian sweets. That or wasabi peas that you can cruelly trick your friends into eating handfuls of without warning. Until recently, Oreo cookies haven’t really taken off China. Some food and beverage companies just do not translate to different cultures and countries. So rather than ditch a 1 potential one billion customer market, Nabisco altered the prod...

Elevation burgers. Stop reading, just go to the closets one you can find ASAP.

Alright, just stop reading this and go to either Falls Church, Tyson’s Corner, Fair Oaks, or Arlington and order yourself an elevation burger ASAP! I’m a huge burger fan, so naturally I hit up the more popular areas if I’m looking for a big filling meal before a sporting event, or something to jumpstart my nap. Meaning I head over to Five Guys when able. But my mind has changed to once I visited the Elevation Burger joint in Tysons Corner a little bit ago. I’m not so much a health freak, and organic food is good for you, but it’s more on the pricey end compared to other foods. But the 100% free range and 100% organic ingredients found in an Elevation burger are 100% freakin’ delicious! While managing to be priced around $5-$8 depending on your assorted b...
