Beat Down Boogie – Katsucon 2016

Katsucon was last weekend and it was AWESOME. Despite a general incompetence of the hotel staff and outrageously overpriced everything, the weekend went off pretty flawlessly. See what was basically the ‘best’ of the cosplay from the mid-atlantic DragonCon. Katsucon takes place in National Harbor / Oxon Hill, Maryland on Valentines Day weekend. Live From CES – UA Healthbox

Under Armour are trying to recapture some of that lost health marketplace as we’ve seen the huge decline of wearables, as most of them were failures. Introducing the UA Healthbox. Healthbox is a band, a scale and a heart rate monitor, along with special shoes. Along with a connected app, and specialized sports knowledge, they’re going to be better than Fitbit, because they say so. Honestly I have the Fitbit Surge/Aria, and it does the same stuff, plus UA has declined to sponsor us at every turn, even though we’re down the street, so I feel no need to promote them. I feel like this is 2 years too late. They’ll get the UA lifers and some athletes, but I don’t see this taking a huge market share from FitBit unless UA puts a TON of money into market placement. &nb...

New York Comic-Con, The Beginning of the Middle, Part 1

I have had a day to digest a bit of what happened over the last 7 days in NYC. I’m not sure exactly how to categorize the whole of the week but I will go in parts. First, my point of view as an exhibitor. My hotel was much closer to the venue, that’s a big advantage, being able to walk to and from Javits is a big plus. Especially since I have to be there for 10 hours a day. I have trimmed my booth down to something I can travel with on the train and the first class car of the Acela is amazing, so I do that, get a nice meal, then walk to the hotel. I had an exhibitor booth with plenty of space for people to set things (under my tables), making my booth a hub of sorts for people to come visit, which was awesome because working a booth for 6 hours a day needed some fresh faces to ...
