Who Should Be the 12th Doctor?

There are a lot of rumors flying around that Matt Smith will be leaving Doctor Who soon. Possibly as early as next year. Will we see a regeneration during this year’s Christmas special? Who knows. In the mean time it’s fun to speculate who will be playing the Doctor next, right?

For Today’s special Doctor Who post we’ll be doing just that, speculation and dreams for who will be the next to hold the Sonic Screwdriver.

Hugh Laurie

A fan favorite of potential Doctors. Hugh Laurie isn’t the “young hot thing” that has been playing the Doctor in the reboot. So some of the newer fans might no adjust to the Doctor being “old.”

Laurie is a seasoned actor so he’ll do well on the show. Also his look is quite different from Matt Smith’s “childish Doctor.” A change to someone like Hugh Laurie could bring a roughness to the character that we haven’t seen in a while.

Colin Morgan

Colin Morgan was the star of the british series Merlin, until recently (the show was canceled). Because of his popularity with Merlin, many fans feel like he would be a good pick for the Doctor. He’s got that sort of strange attractiveness that is so popular with the Doctor.

Merlin was a fantasy series so Colin is used to the special effects and that sort of genre. Also Merlin had a good mix of humor and drama, which is what

Now Colin has appeared on Doctor Who in the past as Jethro in the episode “Midnight.” But that really isn’t an argument for him not being the Doctor. Both Freema Agyeman and Karen Gillan appeared in Doctor Who episodes as different characters before they became companions.

Alan Tudyk

WAIT AN AMERICAN? AS THE DOCTOR?

Okay. I know. I know. I don’t think the Doctor will ever be American. But Hey, Alan Tudyk would make a pretty good Doctor. Alan doesn’t even have to use his American accent. Alan is one of those few American actors that can pull off a British accent. So we’ve got that.

Alan is no stranger to Sc-fi, having starred in the short lived television series Firefly, so he’d fit right in with the world.

Chris Kendall (Crabstickz)

If you spend time on youtube, you probably know who Chris is. Chris has been making comedy videos on youtube for several years now. Currently he is working with the BBC as an actor/comedian.

Chris has that odd attractiveness to him that many Doctors have. He’s also quite good at comedy. He doesn’t seem to have much experience with dramatic acting, but given the chance he could probably achieve some great things. Plus he is relatively unknown and being the Doctor would help kickstart his career (Like it did for David Tennant and Matt Smith)

Helen Mirren

Helen-Mirren

Yes a woman Doctor. Time Lord’s can change gender (and judging by the Doctor’s surprise that he has legs and teeth and hair, apparently Time Lords can regenerate into anything). But yes, a female Doctor would be awesome and Helen Mirren would be a badass.

David Tennant

Let’s just have him reverse regenerate back into 10 and get David Tennant back!

Or we could just go with a completely unknown actor like Matt Smith was. But if it’s an unknown actor then make him ginger for god’s sake!

  1. My order of perfered

    David Tennant
    Helin Miren
    Alan Tudyk

The others are not an option. But Wyl says it doesn’t matter because they ruined the Tardis. Sabrina, he says you have to start the “Bring Back Sexy” Campaign
