The beloved actor known for his roles in The Big Lebowski, Moneyball, and Mission Impossible was found dead this morning in his Manhattan apartment. Police suspect an overdose on drugs- possibly heroin to be the cause of death. Hoffman, found by a screenwriter, was found with a needle sticking out of his arm and heroin in the apartment.
The actor completed a ten day heroin abuse program in 2013 and had admitted to using the drug when he was younger, but was clean for over twenty years before using again.
Hoffman was currently working on many projects including The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and 2.
