Pixar’s Finding Dory, possibly the biggest family friendly movie to come out this summer, set a new box office record for Thursday opening with 9.2 million dollars. Finding Dory beat out Pixar’s last animated feature, Inside Out which made 3.7 million it’s Thursday night and Pixar’s biggest hit Toy Story 3 which had 4 million. The previous animated movie to have the biggest Thursday night opening was The Minions movie with 6.2 million dollars. Central Intelligence also premiered Thursday with 1.8 million which puts it in league with other comedies like Spy or Heat.
Finding Dory is a sequel to the 2003 comercial and critical hit Finding Nemo. This time around the story focuses on Dory, a lovable fish with short term memory loss as she searches for her parents, meeting up with new and old friends on the way.
