Hello there folks and Happy National Donut Day! Yes on this day every year, where we celebrate the greatness that is the donut. With donuts like the simply glazed donuts to crazy creations like the maple bacon donut at the famous Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, Oregon, It is safe to say that we Americans love our donuts. As a good American, I made sure to celebrate this holiday as decadently as possible. So I started my day out at the local Wawa who had a special for today only. If you by a drink you can get one donut for free. I selected their Oreo creme donut, which is one of the best I have ever had. The next donut shop I stopped by was Dunkin Donuts. I can always count on Dunkin for some innovative donuts and they did not disappoint. Dunkin had the same deal as Wawa’s did today too. They had a very interesting donut called lemonade. It was a whole donut with lemon meringue and lemon candies on the top. It was by far the best donut I have gotten from Dunkin before. The candies on top were the best part.
So I had to pretty good donuts today, but how should I end it you ask? With some donut bread pudding of course. That is right, bread pudding with donuts instead. I usually make it during the holidays, but today is a holiday so why not? Its test best warm and some ice cream. Here is the recipe for those who want to try it!
2 ¼ cups of milk
½ cup of sugar
1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 large eggs, slightly beaten
9-12 glazed donuts
½ cup of raisins (if you want some)
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees
2. Mix the milk, sugar, cinnamon, and eggs in one large bowl with a wire whisk.
3. Begin to pull apart your donuts and put them in the bowl. If you have raisins, you add them here too. Stir around until the mix covers most of the donuts.
4. Then pour into a baking dish and spread it around the dish.
5. Baking should take about 45 minutes.
Well there you have it folks, I hope you had a great National Donut Day!
