Well, it’s official, these chips ain’t half bad!
You have to realize that we’ve been following this contest since the beginning. We even did a ton of submissions like the Chocolate/Almond/Jalapeno chips and the Cilantro/Thai Chili chips. However none of those made the cut.
I have to say, the Sriracha chips tasted like Sriracha. One of my favorite spices to put onto anything, but mainly Pho. Speaking of PHO, we’re going to have to have our “beltway battles” segment to find the areas best pho. For a powdered version of the Sriracha it’s damn delicious.
Cheesey Garlic Bread actually tastes like a weird garlic-ey starch, not sure how much it tastes like bread.
Now drumroll…..Awwww SNACK! The one you’ve been waiting for is the Chicken n’ Waffles Lays Brand Potato Chip.
Verdict? partial win, partial miserable fail. There’s plenty of that syrup-ey sugary goodness from the waffley bits, but the chicken flavor failed, there was a nice paprika mid-bite taste and hte mouthfeel is pretty great. It packs quite the punch but Chicken and Waffles it is not. I ate half a bag, so it’s still got amazing snackability. We would feature them if Lays wants to send us a dozen cases for us to give away.
Anyhoo, I’m crushing the Sriracha ones and using it as a pre-fry breading on onions and chicken wings. We’ll see how that goes.
