Get Down With Some Trock

Never under estimate the power of a nerd and a guitar.

Today’s special Doctor Who post is about Trock, or Time Lord Rock.
Yes, people make music about Doctor Who. Yes it’s Fantastic. Yes, you should listen to it.

Similar to Wrock (Wizard Rock, music based on the Harry Potter series), Trock is music that takes its inspiration from Doctor Who. Even though it is Trock stands for Time Lord ROCK, it has no specific style. Trock rangers from piano ballads, acoustic guitar, catchy electronica, to happy pop. All that matters is a love for the Doctor.

Here is some of the best of Trock!

Alex Carpenter
Bow Ties Are Cool

Alex Carpenter is no stranger to the “themed” music genre. He was one of the forerunners of Wrock with his band The Remus Lupins, and he also has a few EPs of Hunger Games related music.

Alex’s music style varies depending on the song; he’s very versatile that way. He’s got everything from Electronic Pop to acoustic guitar to pain heavy music. Most of Alex’s Doctor Who music is based on the adventures of the 11th Doctor, but some is very general too. He’s hinted that he has some more songs about the 10th Doctor, but who knows when we’ll get that.

Alex has two EPs of Doctor Who music; The Tardis Key and a series of season 7 reaction songs.

You can find all of his music on iTunes under Alex Carpenter. Also Check out his youtube page for more music!

Chameleon Circuit

An Awful lot of running

Considered the first Trock band. This group is made up of some very popular Youtubers. Charlie McDonnell (Charlieissocoollike), Alex Day (Nerimon), Liam Dryden (Littleradge), Ed Plant, and Michael Aranda.

Chameleon Circuit currently has two albums of Doctor Who music. Their style is also very varied. Pop, rock, electronic, everything. They also focus on mostly new Who.

Even though they are probably the most popular of the Trock bands, they haven’t been active for about a year now. No word on if they’ll be producing a new album anytime soon.

Amanda Palmer

Girls like Doctor Who too!

Amanda is a singer/songwriter who likes all sorts of nerdy stuff. Using her trusty Ukelele, Amanda singer her way into our whovian hearts with her sweet voice. again mostly focusing on the 11th Doctor’s time, but she has appreciation for the rest of the series. (She puts all of our feelings into song with Come Back Jack)

Hopefully you found a sound you like! Time to Trock on!
