The new NBC series based on DC’s pessimistic chain-smoking antihero John Constantine started shooting this week. In a gesture to Slates for Sarah, a project dedicated to the memory of P.A. Sarah Elizabeth Jones, the show has released two first-look photos.
Welsh actor Matt Ryan will star as Constantine, who certainly looks the part. Also in the cast are Lucy Griffiths as Liv, Harold Perrineau as the angel Manny, and Charles Halford as Constantine’s friend Chas. Neil Marshall, who directed the Game of Thrones episode “Blackwater” as well as horror film The Descent, will direct the show’s pilot.
