Daredevil Season 1 Review

Daredevil has achieved the status of being the most over-reviewed hit show in the “comics on tv” genre. Not that I dislike the saturation, we need more shows like Daredevil and The Flash and Arrow.

You read, if you have clicked far enough into the abyss of the internet to find this dumb site then you read a LOT so I’m going to assume you’ve read a lot of other reviews. My opinion, like Taco Bell breakfast, is not for everyone, but it’s very good.

Here is Daredevil in a nutshell. Murdock gets somewhat superpowers by becoming blind and getting super-senses. He trains with an old white ninja and decides he’s going to clean up New York City in the post-Avengers city destruction. Yes, it ties into the current Marvel Cinematic Universe!

The three best things about this series:

Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin

The depth of character portrayed in this villain is incredible. Growing up with an abusive, controlling alpha male father. History of violence, emphasis on power and respect. Love of art and a fantastic relationship building with a woman that finally “gets him”. He’s incredible. I absolutely love his character.

Wai Ching Ho as Madame Gao

Well… spoilers.

[su_spoiler title=”Madame Gao Details” style=”fancy”]Madame Gao’s people have the same insignia on their heroin as the Steel Serpent. You can do a little googling, but when Gao leaves she indicates she’s going a considerable distance farther than China. To me, that means she’s going to K’un Lun, the mystical city, and when Kingpin asks her what languages she speaks? She says “ALL OF THEM”. she’s so gangster i absolutely love her character. I think she’s actually Crane Mother.[/su_spoiler]

Eldon Henson as Foggy Nelson

He’s the perfect Foggy, and he tries to slap skins with the vampire secretary for the whole season, and I respect that.

Check out the trailer, get Netflix, thank me later.
