Sherlock Mysteries Revealed…sort of.

Continuing the stream of information from Comic Con, we’ve got some tidbits from the Sherlock panel from yesterday.

sherlock_articleFans at the Sherlock panel yesterday were treated to a special rough cut of a scene from the first episode, “The sign of Three,” from the highly anticipated third season. Panel goers were sworn to secrecy as to what exactly happened in the clip, and the BBC won’t be releasing it online at all. We do have some other information.

John Watson will be getting married this season. No spoilers there because it was in the original by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock co-creator, Steven Moffat revealed the information;”Hot off the presses from 110 years ago… John does get married. The secret was out before you were born.”

Season three is a bit more funny than the previous seasons (not that season one and two weren’t funny), but this season gets a bit “cheekier.” The biggest question fans have been asking is how the heck did Sherlock survive that fall, no answers from the panel, but apparently it’s a rational explanation. “When you see the answer, you’ll see that yes, we did know in advance. We had to plot it out,” says Steven Moffat. Also the moment Watson meets Sherlock after thinking he’s been dead fro two years, is emotional. “That moment is quite electrifying,” Mark Gatiss said. Moffat added, “It goes on and on. … It’s a long, complicated emotional journey and extremely funny.”

Other news from the panel includes that Andrew Scott, who plays Sherlock’s arch enemy, Moriarty, will return, but Moriarty is dead. No word on how Andrew Scott will play. Maybe Sherlock has nightmares about Moriarty and tall buildings? And finally all of the actors are contracted for a season four, but there is nothing planned yet; no Stories picked or timelines done. Season 3 doesn’t air until  2014.

And Finally, Sherlock Stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman couldn’t make it to San Diego but they did send a lovely video message for fans!
