No foreseeable future for many benched DC characters

dcbgBob Harras, Editor-in-Chief of DC comics, and Bobbie Chase, Editorial Director, have said that the possibility of a book set “Pre-New 52” in a separate universe featuring characters that are not in the current lineup such as Cassandra Cain, Wally West, Donna Troy, Connor Hawke and Miss Martian among others is not in the cards. They stated that they only have one universe and that is the only universe they are presenting right now. There are also no plans for Kaldur’ahm to be Aqualad.

This comes as a huge disappointment to me, a huge Cassandra Cain fan. I also love Wally West and Donna Troy and it’s a shame that these much loved legacy characters have been benched with no plans of having titles or even a cameo.

Harras and Chase mentioned the possibility of Wonder Woman getting a second title as Batman has quite a few and Superman has two currently, soon to be three. As of now there is nothing on the drawing board but it has been discussed and writers see a great potential in creating a new Wonder Woman title.

I’d love to see a new Wonder Woman book because she is as much a member of DCs trinity as Superman and Batman. As much as I love Batman, there needs to be room for other stars to shine.

What do you like and dislike about the New 52? What should change and what has been succeeding?

  1. I’m a little disappointed that the Aqua-family is low, I find it annoying that Batman still has alot of sidekicks and ex sidekicks while the other DC character’s were learning of there younger counter parts like Superman and Flash.
