Movie goddess herself Meryl Streep is in final talks to play the role of Emmeline Pankhurst in Sarah Gavron’s drama Suffragette. The film will star Carey Mulligan as a “foot soldier of the early feminist movement” with Streep’s Pankhurst in a supporting role. According to IMDb, the cast also includes Helena Bonham Carter, Romola Garai, and Brendan Gleeson, with a script by Abi Morgan (Shame, The Iron Lady).
Any one of these names on its own would be reason enough to see the film but altogether they are a force to be reckoned with.
