This past weekend I attended a medieval themed wedding that took place at Castle McCulloch in Jamestown North Carolina. This was one week after the airing of the Red Wedding episode so all of the families there were a bit on edge. The wedding was for Lady Sarah Woods and Sir Michael Miller, two very good friends of mine who have been together for years now. They are big nerds who play a lot of board games and have even created their own Dungeons and Dragons-esq game called The Hunters which is way cooler and has taken them years to develop. Anyways, they threw a medieval themed wedding and I am so happy that I was a part of it. HUZZAH!
The wedding proceeded like most weddings and had all of the familiar wedding symptoms except for the fact that it took place in a castle and everyone had awesome medieval costumes on. It added a fresh element to the typical wedding because everyone had their own creation instead of people just wearing their favorite dresses and suits. They were great topics of conversation as well and forced people to talk like they were a lord or lady. “You look radiant today m’lady.” “Who forged your armor m’lord?”
Because of this wedding, I now want every wedding to be themed. Normal weddings just don’t cut it for me anymore.
This is the bride and groom. The guests demanded a bedding ceremony. Didn’t happen.
Pre-wedding. The guest sign-in sheet was a feather pen with an inkwell. Castle McCulloch had a sweet moat around it.
Loved the pictures and the description! Very authentic!
