Say hello to my friends Joe and Carolyn, two awesome and very talented people. Curls is Carolyn’s project since college and now she’s doing a collected edition that needs your help to support print costs!

What Is Curls?

Curls is a comic strip written and drawn by Carolyn Belefski featuring a gal named Curls who dreams of adventurous situations that come to play in real-life with a gang of her animal friends and a giant piece of toast. The purpose of this Kickstarter is to collect every strip into a book which will allow readers to see the evolution of Curls—from a university newspaper comic strip to an award-nominated comic strip published online. The book will also include never-before-seen extras, including sketches and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the creation process.

Who Is Carolyn Belefski?

Carolyn Belefski is a visual communicator, designer, and cartoonist. In 2010, her comic strip Curls was nominated for Friends of Lulu’s Kim Yale Award for Best New Talent to recognize women in cartooning. In 2013 and 2014 Carolyn was voted Best Visual Artist runner-up for Washington City Paper’s Best of D.C. awards. She served as editor-in-chief of Magic Bullet, Washington, DC’s comics anthology for issues 6-9. Carolyn has done freelance illustration and design projects for clients such as Boom! Studios (Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time), Clorox, National Geographic, The White House, and more. She is co-chair of the Washington, DC chapter of National Cartoonists Society.
