Adding to the cast of the Batman prequel show is Jada Pinkett Smith, in the role of “Fish Mooney.” This is supposedly an entirely new character not from previous comics or other material. Pinkett’s character is a “sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner, she’s got the street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book. Imposing and hotheaded, she’s not one to be crossed.”
Sounds like an intriguing role for the star, who hasn’t had much exposure since her show Hawthorne was cancelled from TNT in 2011. Fish Mooney will also have ties to Oswald Copplepot, the young psycho who will morph into the Penguin.
More casting news is sure to crop up in the near future as the series gets closer to its shooting. Here’s to hoping for word on the Joker or Catwoman, some other menacing villains.
