Words cannot express how excited, scared and sad I am that the final season of Breaking Bad is airing this summer. The season will be eight episodes long and it will be the second half of the fifth season that aired last summer. I assume they waited a year to air these last episodes because they wanted the audience to know what it was like for a meth addict going through withdrawal. But I know that my fix is coming sooner rather than later so lets just say I’m excited! Ahhh!
I wasn’t someone who watched the show from the beginning, I caught on before the start of season three because everyone I knew was talking about how bad-ass it was. I powered through the first two seasons on Netflix and I was hooked. In fact, I was hooked after the first scene. A middle-aged white guy wearing only underwear and a gas mask speeding down a dirt road in a Winnebago with three unconscious passengers. He crashes, says his last words to his family on a video tape and then aims his gun at the oncoming sirens. I was just like dude….
But now it is all coming to an end starting August 11th. A violent end it seems, and I am perfectly happy with five seasons. This show is beyond popular and most other show creators would find a way to milk the cash cow but I applaud Breaking Bad for telling an honest story in an honest time frame. It’ll be sad to see it go but I don’t think fans will be disappointed. They had a whole year to prepare for the most highly anticipated show of the summer and I think they will deliver and then some.
What do you think?
