Warner Bros. has announced a sequel to the enormously successful The Lego Movie to be released May 26, 2017. The Lego Movie is quickly making its way to a third weekend as first in the Box Office running. The nostalgic family-friendly film has already grossed a whopping $200 million worldwide and seems set to crush its weekend competition, the action-y Pompeii. Its staying power might even rival that of Frozen, which is still holding a comfortable spot at the Box Office after its Thanksgiving 2013 release. Seriously, check out Rotten Tomatoes.
The sequel will be written by Jared Stern (Mr. Popper’s Penguins, The Internship) and Michelle Morgan (Girl Most Likely). Neither has a resume that packs a punch so here’s to hoping the sequel is just as much fun as its predecessor.
