No plot as of yet but a sequel to last year’s The Conjuring is in the works with a release date of October 23 2015. It will most likely be among the slew of yearly Halloween releases, including a spin-off called Annabelle which is presumably about that really scary doll from the first film.
Holy nightmare fuel, Batman.
The Conjuring 2 will be written by Carey and Chad Hayes, the team behind the first film, and bring back Ed and Lorraine Warren played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. As with The Conjuring, this sequel will revolve most likely around another true life haunting. Not on board for the sequel is director James Wan, who is saying goodbye to horror movie-making. He’s currently in production with Fast & Furious 7.
Hopefully The Conjuring 2 doesn’t fall victim to the curse of the sequel and pull in a bad score on Rotten Tomatoes. Too many horror franchises have shriveled up under the weight of unnecessary sequels.
