The Terminator reboot, which is now planned as a final trilogy to be filmed back-to-back, has its casting locked with most recent star Dayo Okeniyi. Okeniyi will play Danny Dyson, son of Miles Dyson (played to perfection by Joe Morton in Terminator 2: Judgement Day), a “Steve Jobs genius who figures heavily into the conclusion of the film”. The actor has had parts in The Spectacular Now and The Hunger Games.
This marks the last significant casting for Terminator: Genesis, with other key roles going to Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), and Jai Courtney (Divergent). It’s hard to say how these actors will stack up against their predecessors. I’m especially interested in Emilia Clarke’s portrayal of Sarah Connor, who has been previously played by her Game of Thrones co-star Lena Headey. But each vital role has been played by at least three different actors – both in television and film – and the story driving this reboot is still under wraps.
The film is set for a Summer 2015 release.
