David O. Russell, the director of movies like Silver Linings Playbook, The Fighter, and I Heart Huckabees, will release his new film in December 2013, before Christmas, right in time to be considered for the awards season of 2014. The film is currently known as Untitled David O. Russell/Abscam Project, but is expected to be named American Bulls. It will tell the story of an FBI operation called Abscam that investigated Capitol Hill lawmakers and their possible role in illegal money exchanges in the late ’70s and early ’80s. The project involves Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, with whom Russell worked on Silver Linings Playbook, Christian Bale and Amy Adams, who both starred in Russell’s The Fighter, as well as Jeremy Renner and Louis C.K.
I just think it would have been nice to see Russell working with other people. I was very happy when Bradley Cooper was cast in Silver Linings Playbook rather than Mark Wahlberg. I like Russell’s directing and would have been interesting to see him direct other actors, not that anyone on this list is bad. Anyway, I’m still looking forward to watching this film!
