NBC’s sorta new sorta cop drama. I think it looks like a blue bloods/castle/house vibe, if you can imagine that in a sandwich with fries.
I say SORTA new because it’s a remake of IRONSIDE, a detective drama whose main character is wheelchair-bound chief detective Robert T. Ironside, played by Raymond Burr. It got off nearly 200 episodes back between 1967 and 1975, syndicated as The Raymond Burr Show. Yes, Raymond Burr’s character, a portly white dude is being replaced by Underwood. Perhaps they’ll call on Zach Galifianakis to remake Snakes on a Plane. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with replacing one dude with the next, but Burr’s character on the original Ironside didn’t look like he could get up and kick your ass if he had the chance.
That being said, I trust John Davis at Davis Entertainment and I have faith (but don’t always agree with the programming) of Teri Weinberg from Yellow Brick Road (she did The Office and Ugly Betty, two successful shows I loathe)
I give it the grit and cinematography of House, the family drama (as a unit) of Blue Bloods and the humor of castle. It is big shoes to fill for leading man Blair Underwood, who has been bouncing from one failed show to the next after his incredible run (I think almost 150 episodes) on LA Law. Yes, he’s had a smattering of ups and downs in the film world, his most notables of the last 10 years being roles in Madea’s Family Reunion and Malibu’s Most Wanted.
He’s joined by the daughter of Dr. Frasier Crane, Spencer Grammer, who I know from her role as the dork’s hot sister on Greek.
Also Anton from A Gifted Man. Pablo Schreiber, is in it. So, that’s good…I actually really dug his character in A Gifted Man, I should stop watching every show on TV, some of my faves get cancelled. (i.e. Touch, most recently)
