This weekend we’ve got our very first look at the long awaited second season to The Legend of Korra. The second season or “book” will be called “Spirits” and it will follow Korra and her friends and their dealings with the Spirit world.
The first glimpse of the new season seems to be a new character or creature that might look a little familiar to fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The photo was tweeted by Legend of Korra co-creator Bryan Konietzko, commenting about the color correcting sessions he’s currently in for Korra. The creature looks much like Ang’s beloved flying lemur, Momo, but with a few key differences. The orange eyes, tuft of hair on its head and striped tail show us that this is not Momo’s grandson/daughter, but maybe a distant relation. He also commented on the progress of the show saying, “More episodes are being finished, slowly but surely. Some great stuff coming in book 2!”
And just today we got our first preview of what is to come! In a promo segment for Nickelodeon Animation Studios fans get to see the animators talk about the show a bit and what is to come for Korra. Here is a low quality video of it but, you can see a higher quality over on IGN.
Though Korra has gotten all of her avatar powers, it seems that she will be struggling more with the spiritual side of being the Avatar this season. She will be going into the sprit world and facing creature spirits, some Light/Dark sprits and who knows what else. Stuggles are ahead for our Avatar and it seems like it will be a good ride!
A release date for the new season has not been announced.
