Get ready for some nostalgia, weebs, Digimon Adventure is returning with a third season.
Of course any, hardcore Digimon fan knows this, the announcement that the original Digimon story (Digimon Adventure) would be getting another season was made at the 15th anniversary event on August 1st, 2014.
Since then, fans have slowly been getting more information about the new anime. The information is being released as fans play a click game on the Digimon Adventure website. Fans click “digi-eggs” that appear on the site and after so many clicks the egg hatch and new information is revealed! It has been a slow process, but well worth it.
Today, more digi-eggs were hatched and the second promotional poster was revealed. The poster features the original cast of characters and their Digimon partners.
So here is everything we know so far about the new series:
The title of the anime will be Digimon Adventure Tri and will be released on television in Japan in the Spring (April is the rumored month). It features the original 8 characters and their digimon partners. There is no word on weather or not the newer “chosen children” from Digimon Adventure 02 will play a role in the series. The series takes place 5-6 years after the end of Digimon 02 (so the newer chosen children could still be included). The characters will now be in High School, with the exception of Takeru (T.K) and Hikari (Kari), who are younger so they will be in middle school.
The director of the series is Keitaro Motonaga (Date A Live), Scrpits by Yuuko Kakihara (Persona 4: The Animation) and Character design is by Atsuya Uki (Tsuritama). The original voice cast for the human and Digimon characters will be returning. The original theme song and insert sons “Butterfly” by Wada Koji and “Braveheart” by Ayumi Miyazaki respectively, will be used again.
With spring fast approaching there are still many questions as to the plot and future of these beloved characters. One thing for sure, is that Digimon fans are impatiently waiting for every scrap of information that comes out!
