May be a bit of old news to some of you, but we’ve all been freaking out over all the awesome stuff going on at E3 right now. Forgive us.

In May, NBC announced that the sitcom about a community college, “Community” would be returning for a fifth season. Something that was not expected at all. And in more good news, NBC announced yesterday that creator and ex-showrunner, Dan Harmon, would be returning to the show as producer.

Dan Harmon was fired from his position as showrunner after the 3rd season because of conflicts with Chevy Chase, one of the show’s stars. Chase has since left the show (season four being his last season) and NBC has agreed to bring back Harmon. A decision that is much welcomed from fans.

Community has been one of those “struggling” shows; modest ratings, not a lot of support from the network, that sort of thing. Season four struggled a little bit, and the absence of Harmon was certainly felt, but Community’s fan base is one of the most dedicated fan bases out there. Harmon will be welcomed back with open arms from both the cast and the fans.

No word yet on where Community fits into NBC’s 2013-2014 schedule.
