From The Verge
2015 might be Michael B. Jordan’s breakout year. With Fantastic Four now on the way for August, the Wire alum’s next vehicle will put him in the boxing ring alongside Rocky Balboa himself. In Creed, Jordan plays Adonis Creed, the son of Rocky’s one-time nemesis Apollo Creed. And Adonis looks poised to carry his father’s legacy — and the franchise — on his shoulders.
The movie’s first trailer makes plenty of callbacks to the original films, particularly to Apollo’s death in Rocky IV. Jordan is joined by fellow Wire castmate Wood Harris as Creed’s trainer, Dear White People‘s Tessa Thompson as his love interest, Phylicia Rashad as his mother, and, of course, Sylvester Stallone as Rocky, who takes the role of Adonis’ eventual mentor. Creed hits theaters on November 25th.
