I never understood people who were in love with Tony Soprano, until I met Don Draper. I’m not ashamed of it; I’ve been in love with Don Draper for the first couple of seasons of Mad Men. I know what you’re thinking, but there is something about him and his style, even though you can probably use his hair as a mirror. My feelings have changed obviously, you can love a fictional character for so long. But I still like Mad Men. I’m not sure how I feel about the advertisement world right now, but watching -even if it’s fiction for the most part- how these groundbreaking advertising ideas first came to surface is very entertaining.
Season 5 was so fiiine, that I don’t know how they are going to make something better than that this season. Joan got what she deserved, even though I hated every single one of those men who made her do what she did.(Trying very hard not to give spoilers for those who haven’t seen it yet. But you should soon, it’s very good.) The small company that our heroes started in a little hotel room in season 3 got so big and successful, that they started thinking about having more office space. And rest in peace, you know who you are (still trying not to give any spoilers).
Let’s get to the point, what is going to happen in the new season? Will Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce lease one more floor for the executives? Series creator Matthew Weiner did not want anyone to reveal this information, so everyone is taking their guess. I say, you have to have two floors if you want to entertain a client as chic as Jaguar.
Lucky for us, January Jones is not like Matthew Weiner, and she talked about Betty Francis’ (formerly Draper) future: “It’s interesting to hear people’s perspectives, because I felt like the first few seasons were rough, and then she’s made steps in the last couple seasons to be happier, by leaving Don and marrying Henry and trying to be a better mom. And I think that she’s in the best place we’ve seen her — but I’m not sure she’ll ever be completely happy. I don’t know if she knows how to do that. She’s one of those people who’s always searching for something else, so even if she finds it, I don’t know if she’d recognize it. And it’s sad, because Henry’s, like, a great husband and a great guy, and he took in her kids, and he’s like this kind of perfect guy, and she’s still searching for something.”
