The World of Alethrion

During the Kickstarter we take you on a tour through the six main areas of the map where the stories will be taking place:

Tocha – The common grounds where low leveled adventurers usually start their journeys. The first half of The Reward took place here and it is also here where the windmill city of Draloque high up in the mountains.

Sireena – A warm and beautiful area where nobles, museums and high forests can be found. Some people turn into magical and beautiful creatures if they stay for too long in the forest of inspiration. It also here where Alethrion kills the dragon in the Prologue episode.

Ralix – Swamps with lizards, frogs, smelling dragons and witches, castles surrounded by clouds, dead woods and villains. Retired heroes usually choose to settle in a little paradise called mol hidden in the middle of this foul area.

Alethrion´s Nest – A strange and mysterious place that most people do not know about. The X on the map is located here.

Kartoffal – The moving desert to the south. It is so big that the world and civilizations on the other side has been forgotten. It is said that gnomes know their way through desert though.

Tolkan – Dungeons and underground communities lure underneath these cold rocky lands. The gods who have survived are living in protected mansions drinking their tea and living sophisticated around here.

Why Kickstarter

Kickstarter gives us something that we can´t get anywhere else – an engaging audience who wants to join us on our journey. We need your help to make the series come to life without being limited in our creativity. An ambitious indie project like this is really hard to finance because most broadcasters are looking for straight forward children´s content with no surprises and no violence. We want love, fantasy, exploration, crazyness and mysteries to be available for everyone on the internet.

We want you as our bosses! Kickstarter offers us that rare opportunity and it makes the long process of making animation so much more fun, inspiring and worth it knowing that we have people around the world believing in us.

Creating a webisode

The 5 steps of making an animated webisode:

1) We do the storybeats and scripts. We are testing animation and making the designs.

2) We make the storyboards and put them into an animatic with music to find the rythm and feeling.

3) We make animation keys (most important drawings to tell the story and acting) and layouts (In order to see if the characters fit before making the actual background).

4) We start making the music, clean and color the animations and make the backgrounds from the layouts.

5) The last step is compositing – which is where the shots are made beautiful. We make the effects, lights, shadows and color grading. The last details is polished.

History and team of Sun Creature Studio

Sun Creature Studio was founded by Mikkel Mainz (director), Bo Juhl (Producer) and Kenneth Ladekjer (director) whom you met in the first Kickstarter. We started out living together in a small flat working hard to be able to make the sequel for The Reward. We had a dream of being able to make it into a series with a great team.

The studio has grown and we are now 7 people along with our awesome musicians Mathias Winum and Johan Pedersen. Our producer Charlotte De La Gournerie plans the process and does the budgets behind the creativity. Simon Lee is the background lead on Tales of Alethrion, Thibaud Petitpas is an amazing animator who loves morphing and Guillaume Dousse is our visual warlock.

We would also really like to thank The Animation Workshop, Andreas Lund Andersen who is making our Alethrion Roleplaying system. Then there is Jesse Destasio, our merchandising agent in New York. He is also working with Frederator who we also would like to thank. Thanks to Ross Bradfield from Texas our Excecutive Producer and Kasper Shclüter helping out, Even Mehl Amundsen for some beautiful portraits of our characters – and of course a huge thanks to everybody else who has helped us on this project!
